Performing at the New Jersey Folk Festival The New Jersey Folk Festival is looking for talented singer/songwriters for our 35th year. The Festival takes place annually on the last Saturday in April. The programming committee considers mainly ethnic and traditional performers. Traditional music is the main focus of this festival. We are accepting applications between June 1, 2008 and August 31, 2008. Programming meetings usually take place in September, October, November, and December. We try to wrap up our decisions by December 15, 2008 and to notify selected performers by January 15, 2009. Due to the sheer volume and time constraints, we do not contact unsuccessful applicants. If you would like to apply, please download our application. There is no application for performance. If you are an ethnic or traditional performer or group and you wish to be considered, send a biography and a CD or an audio or VHS video tape or DVD to: Kathy DeAngelo, Music Director We are not able to return these materials as we receive so many every year. We encourage electronic submissions through Sonicbids. You can save money by not sending out bulky press kits. The Electronic Press Kits (EPKs) of Sonicbids are a faster, better, and easier way to submit your material. You can submit an EPK at http://www.sonicbids.com/newjerseyfolkfestival Although we are a traditional music festival, we do give singer-songwriters (who are potentially the folk music of tomorrow) an opportunity to play. If you are a singer-songwriter, we encourage you to apply to our Singer-Songwriter Showcase, an annual feature of our Shore Stage. At least six performers are judged winners from a field of applicants to participate in a two-hour showcase during the festival. Winners receive a modest expense honorarium and a twenty minute set on the Shore Stage, and, of course, inclusion in the festival program. |
